Love God. Love people. Love the world. In other words, ministry!

Love God

Our love of God is expressed in everything we do.
Specific ministries that express sharing and growing in God’s love include:

  • Worship

We gather for worship every Sunday and for special services throughout the year. Together, we gather in God’s presence, reconnect as the Body of Christ through scripture and sacraments, listen for and share in the Spirit’s guidance through preaching, prayer and music. All ages participate in worship, gathering as a whole people of God, for at least part of every service. For a fuller description of our Sunday services click HERE

Some Special Services (Sunday and mid-week):

    • Jazz/Mardi Gras Sunday
    • Ash Wednesday
    • Lenten “Simple Soup and Song” Weekly Vespers
    • Maundy Thursday
    • Easter Sunday
    • Earth Day Sunday
    • Rally Sunday (second Sunday in September)
  • Faith Formation

Adults, youth and children are constantly learning and growing in their love and understanding of God. “Formation” is an old word for the activities and experiences that shape us as Christian disciples.

ACES (Adult Christian Education and Spirituality):
Throughout the year we offer multiple ways for adults of all ages to grow in faith. A weekly (online) Bible Study discusses the scriptures for the coming Sunday. Monday night groups read a book or engage in a practice or topic together to deepen their faith. Topics have ranged from Contemplative Prayer, to Indigenous History/Doctrine of Discovery, to Racial Reconciliation/Repair, to the Life of Jesus, to Environmental Stewardship/Theology.

    Youth
Youth need time and space to gather with their peers and explore their faith. We offer a joint youth group with Peace Dale Congregational Church that focuses on service projects and friendship building. Our Director of Faith Formation coordinates with colleagues at PDCC to organize (almost) monthly events. Contact our Director of Faith Formation for upcoming events.
Confirmation, a six-month program of exploration of the Christian faith [usually October-April], is offered every other year to 9th/10th graders who meet twice a month with adult leaders and mentors to more deeply understand their own faith and the Christian tradition, inviting and preparing them to “confirm” their baptism at a special Sunday service in the spring.

    Children
Every Sunday the kids of KCC are warmly welcomed and affirmed as important and beloved members of our community. They participate in worship AND are offered special, age-appropriate times and places to nurture their own faith separately. Our Director of Faith Formation oversees our Sunday children’s programs, including a “Pray Space” in the sanctuary where younger worshippers can enjoy worship and hands-on activities related to the season or Sunday theme and Children’s Church, special time in a separate space to explore faith at their speed and in their style.

  • Music

Music is integral to our love and worship of God. Worship music on Sundays and at seasonal services, sung and played by congregation, choir and special musicians, lifts our hearts and spirits to God.

    Vocal and Chime Choirs
Singing and ringing throughout the “program year,” our vocal and chime choirs assist the congregation in expressing love and faith. For more information about our vocal choir email our Minister of Music. For more information about our chime choir email our Chime Choir Director.

KCC Concerts and Creative Arts Ministry
Believing that music is ministry, we support the making and sharing of music for all through our KCC Concerts and other creative arts programming.
